Rabindranath Tagore
Birth and childhood: Rabindranath was born on 7 May 181 AD (25 Baishakh 126 BS) in the famous Tagore family of Jorasanko, Calcutta. His father was Maharshi Debendranath Tagore and his mother was Sarada Dabi. Grandfather Darkanath. Grandfather Dwarkanth Tagore was a famous rich man of old. Rabindranath Tagore was the fourteenth child of his parents. Shishu Rabindranath grew up in the literary, artistic and musical environment of the Tagore family. (বাাংলাই পড়ুন)
Student life: The student life of boy Rabindranath started at Oriental Seminary School. However, according to Rabindra biographer Prashant Kumar Pal, Rabindranath's student life began at the Calcutta Training Academy.
He then studied at the Normal School (Calcutta Government School), Bengal Academy, St. Xavier's School, etc. But the boy Rabindranath did not like the conventional education system. That is why he could not finish school even though he changed schools repeatedly. Although his formal education was incomplete, he studied various subjects at home under qualified tutors.
For the sake of Rabindranath, Saratchandra wrote - "We are not surprised to see you, poet". In fact, Rabindra Pratibha is an absolute wonder. Rabindranath was simultaneously a poet, storyteller, novelist, playwright, playwright, actor, lyricist, painter, essayist, teacher, and founder of an educational institution. Many different streams of his creativity have flooded not only the minds of the countrymen but also the minds of the world.
Literature - Beginning of work: Rabindranath started writing poetry at an early age. He wrote in his memoirs about how his poetry began - "I will not be more than seventeen or eight years old then. One of my nephews, Mr. Jyoti Prakash, is a little older than me." I can't tell you why a child like me was so excited to write a poem. He explained to me the fourteen letter communication method in the verse. " In the life of the child Rabindranath, the practice of poetry that started in this way never stopped. As he grew older and experienced, his extraordinary talent for writing poems, essays, songs, plays, novels, short stories, etc. began to develop.
Personal life: Arrangements were made to send Rabindranath to England on 20 September 16 at the age of 18. That was his first trip to Britain. There he was admitted to the Brighton Preparatory School for Boys. The following year he was admitted to the Faculty of Arts Laws at University College, London. But on the instructions of his father Debendranath, he returned to the country in 189 AD, leaving his education unfinished. He wrote 'Expatriates in Europe' about his experience of living in Billet for the first time.
In 183, Rabindranath married Bhavatarini Devi, daughter of Benimadhab Roychowdhury of Jessore. In Thakurbari, Bhavatarini was renamed Mrinalini. Kadambari Devi, the wife of Jyotirindranath, Rabindranath's grandfather, loved Rabindranath and encouraged him in literary pursuits. Kadambari Devi committed suicide in 164 AD. Rabindranath remembered this loving lady forever. The memory of Kadambari Devi is spread in many of his compositions. In 164 AD, Rabindranath had to take charge of the zamindari under his father's direction. In order to take care of the zamindari, he lived for some time in the areas of Padma-Shilaidaha, Sajadpur etc. The open nature of these regions and the common people have enriched his literary work in many ways. Among the various pseudonyms of Rabindranath, "Vanusingh Tagore", Annakali Pakrashi, Mrs. Kanishtha etc. were notable.
Career: Apart from literary work, Rabindranath was involved in other organizational activities. In 1901, Rabindranath established the Brahmacharya Vidyalaya at Santiniketan in the style of the ancient Indian Tapvan. The work of this school started with level five students. Later this institution became Visva-Bharati University. In 1905, Lord Curzon's proposal for partition of Bengal caused a political upheaval in the country. Rabindranath actively participated in that protest against the partition of Bengal. The song 'Banglar Mati Banglar Jal' was composed on this occasion. Rabindranath did not confine himself only to the practice of literature and art. In the interest of the country and the nation, he has spoken out against any injustice against humanity. He relinquished the title of 'Knight' given to him by the British government in protest of the assassination of Jallianwala Bagh in 1991.
Notable works: The beginning of Rabindranath's literary life was through the composition of poems. His other literary works are -
Poetry - Book: The name of the first poem published in Rabindranath's own name is 'Gift of Hindu Fair'. It was published in February 175 in the bilingual newspaper Amritbazar. The name of his first published book is Kavi-Kahini (published in 18 AD). His own style of writing can be traced back to the poem Sandhya Sangeet, published in 162 AD. Bankimchandra himself praised this book of poetry. Among his other books of poetry are Mansi, Sonar Tari, Chitra, Kalpana, Kshanika, Naibedya, Kheya, Gitanjali, Gitimalya, Gitali, Balaka, Mahua, Punschaya, Patraput, Akash Pradeep, Navjatak, Janmadin, Shesh Lekha etc.
Drama: The name of the first play written by Rabindranath Tagore is Rudrachand. His first lyric play was Balmiki Pratibha. His notable plays are Raja O Rani, Bisarjan, Sharadotsab, Dakghar, Raja, Falguni, Muktadhara, Raktakarbi etc.
Novel: Rabindranath's first novel is Karuna. His novels Sand of the Eyes, Gora, Chaturanga, Communication, The Last Poem, Four Chapters etc. have become invaluable resources of Bengali literature.
Short Stories: The true form of short stories in Bengali literature also developed from Rabindranath. He wrote more than 90 short stories. Rabindranath is one of the best short story writers in the world. Some of his famous short stories are --- 'Postmaster', 'Nastaneer', 'Denapaona',
'Guest', 'Holiday', 'Hungry Stone', 'Hidden Treasure', 'Nishithe' etc.
Essays: Rabindranath is also unique in writing thoughtful essays. Notable essays on literature, the path of literature, homeland, society, education, human religion, Kalantar, etc.
Apart from this, the brilliant expression of Rabindra Pratibha can also be noticed in the literature and travel literature. His son's collection "Chhinnapatrabali" has risen to the level of poetry.
Honors and Recognitions: Rabindranath was awarded many prizes and honors for his literary achievements. Of his book of poetry "Gitanjali"
On 13 November 1913, he wrote 53 of the 156 poems and 50 poems from 9 books, including Gitimalya, Naibedya, Kheya, Shishu, Achalayatan, etc., for a total of 103 poems and songs. He was the first Indian to win the Nobel Prize. This award made him known to the world.
Death: On August 8, 1941 (22 Shravan 1347 BS) at 12:10 pm in Jorasanko, the poet Guru Rabindranath Tagore said goodbye to this world and passed away.
