His overall theatrical work can be divided into two parts - original plays and adapted plays. Santal Vidroh ',' Setubandhan 'and' Saudagar's Nauko 'are the basic plays of Ajitesh Bandyopadhyay. He was associated with the Communist Party for more than a decade. He was also an active member of Gananatya Sangha. From the end of the next decade, Ajitesh joined the workers, teachers and refugee movement. He composed the plays 'Strike, Coal Color' and 'Santal Rebellion' for the Gananatya Sangha. But in 1984 there was an ideological conflict and the desire to act well independently. He broke the knot with Gananatya. As a result, Nandikar ', which had been a branch of mass drama for so long, became an independent theater troupe. In the wake of the mass uprising, the playwright portrayed the sharp social ideology in the form of comedy in 'Setubandhan' from the liberation that was sought in 'Santal Vidroh'.
